KdentsTV Launches Summer Palooza Music Festival

Making music this summer? Cadence Theatre Company wants to hear it and SEE it. Submit your original music video or at home performance for inclusion in the Summer Palooza Music Festival, airing September 18 through 20, on KdentsTV and Cadence’s social media channels. Entrants are eligible to win cash prizes and the grand prize winner will receive an opportunity to spend two hours of in-studio time with an engineer at Red Amp Audio. Categories will be juried by Marna Bales and Jody Boyd, owners of Red Amp Audio, and David "Sully" Sullivan. High school musicians, up to rising college freshmen, are invited to submit. Everyone is invited to tune in. Don’t be a paloozer. Send us your submission today!

Eligibility: Rising high school Freshmen to rising College Freshmen
Songs must be original (no covers)
Artists may submit more than one song per category, but may not submit the same song twice (in different categories).
Language and content must be appropriate for public listening and viewing (all ages).
Time Limit: Five minutes in length

Red Amp Audio is a TEC (Technical Excellence & Creativity) Award nominated studio for outstanding creative achievement in acoustics/facility design and was featured on the cover of Mix Magazine's Studio Design Class of 2010. The state-of-the-art studio, located in the heart of the historic Monroe Ward district of Richmond, has two audio recording suites, a two story tracking room, two isolation booths and a podcast suite. Red Amp’s sound spaces were designed by award-winning architect Peter Grueneisen, FAIA (DreamWorks Animation, Dave Matthews Band, Sony Music Japan, Hans Zimmer).
Marna Bales and Jody Boyd are the owners of Red Amp Audio and the 9WG Studios building.
Marna Bales is Red Amp Audio’s Executive Producer and is a proud VCU alumnus with a degree in mass communications/public relations. As Queen Bee of Red Amp, Marna manages all things audio including scheduling, voice and musician casting, client and vendor relations, as well as radio and music production.
Marna’s diverse résumé includes advertising agency experience in broadcast production management at the Martin Agency and communications as a producer and project manager at Genworth Financial.
Marna also feels quite at home working behind the microphone. She is a songwriter and a current member of WIM (Women in Music). She was the Richmond Chapter Coordinator for NSAI (Nashville Songwriters Association International) for four years, is a recording artist (CMA Member) and a professional voice talent (SAG-AFTRA member). Marna has been a lead vocalist in bands for more than 30 years, has released two albums, an EP, a single and two music videos, has performed for the Queen of England during her state visit in 2007, was a featured artist for the 2017 Virginia Inauguration Ceremony and has shared the stage with many country artists including Charlie Daniels. She currently plays hand drums and fronts the band, 64 Crayons.
Jody Boyd is Red Amp Audio’s Senior Music Composer, Sound Designer, Mixer, Music Producer and Drummer Extraordinaire. He attended Virginia Tech as the honoree of various scholarships and finished his Bachelors of Music degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. While working on his master’s degree in percussion and music performance, Jody was a graduate teaching assistant at the prestigious Eastman School of Music in New York.
Jody’s skills are born from more-than- three-decade history with professional music including performances with the Roanoke and Richmond Symphonies and numerous cover and indie bands. He has channeled his experience into his music compositions and award-winning sound design and mixing skills for a wide variety of regional and national clients and projects.
Jody has a true gift of perfect pitch and is able to play many instruments (drums/percussion, guitar and keyboards). Jody is also a gifted songwriter, sought-after music producer, and has produced dozens of recordings for regional artists and indie bands. Jody performs as a drummer in multiple regional groups and is a guitarist in 64 Crayons.
David "Sully" Sullivan has been entertaining and singing professionally for audiences up and down the East Coast since the age of 15. New Orleans is Sully’s birthplace and is where the foundations of blues and soul music arose as his lifelong passion. His signature style of dynamic and soulful vocals come naturally in his performances and are apparent in his songwriting. And as a former Plan 9 record store music associate and a lifelong lover of all musical styles, he prides himself on his vast knowledge of artists, bands and their recordings. Sully is a charismatic and engaging performer, a great musician, and a supportive and encouraging musical collaborator. Sully does session work at Red Amp Audio and performs in The Significant Others Band as well as 64 Crayons Band.
